Bed and breakfast and hotel prices in London have come down dramtically because of the recession.
The superb exchange rate for visitors from America and Euroland, coupled with further great promotional deals by London hotels have resulted in accommodation in London and throughout the UK now being substantially cheaper than before the recession.
According to the Economist Intelligence Unit, six months ago London was the eighth most expensive city in the world. Now tourists and business visitors are benefiting from London’s fall to 27th in the league table of expensive cities.
According to the data, New York now ranks as the 23rd most expensive world city, meaning that for the first time in years, prices in London for accommodation, clothing, food, entertainment and alcohol have dropped to well below those in New York.
Boris Johnson, Mayor of London has welcomed the findings saying: "The results of this survey are timely and heartening. During the downturn, it is important we continue to celebrate and advertise the richness and diversity of our unique city and the world-beating attractions, galleries, exhibitions, theatres and restaurants on offer here.
The Mayor went on to say: “There has never been a better time to visit London and get great value on every pound, dollar, euro or yuan spent here."
London's Top 10 tourist Attractions are in London

All of the Uk’s top 10 tourist attractions of 2008 are in London according to the Association of Leading Visitor Attractions. The list of top attractions is headed by the British Museum, Tate Modern and the National Gallery.
