To improve availability of taxis in Tooting, Balham and Clapham, the Public Carriage Office together with Transport for London have initiated a pilot project.  Suburban drivers currently licensed to work in Merton and Sutton are being tested on their knowledge of the above additional areas.  Some drivers have already been tested and have passed and are actively working these ranks and the surrounding areas.  Please support your local Taxi Rank!

What to do if you have lost property in a London Taxi

The Transport for London Lost Property website is here and the following is a summary of what to do if you have lost property in a London taxi.  Opening hours and phone numbers may vary and you should check up to date information by visiting the Lost Property Office via the above link.

London Taxi drivers will deposit lost property at a London Police Station.  Your property will be forwarded to the Transport for London (TFL) Lost Property Office.  Property can take up to 5 days to reach the Lost Property Office.  Contact details for the Lost Property Office are: 200 Baker Street (near Baker Street underground station) London, NW1 5RZ.  Phone: 020 7918 2000 between 09:00 - 16:00, Mondays to Fridays excluding bank holidays.  You may also visit between 09:00 and 14:00, Monday to Friday with the exception of bank holidays.  You can report your loss at a London Police Station who will forward details to the TFL Lost Property Office.

Written enquiries can also be made by filling in an enquiry form (available at London Underground stations and London Bus garages) and either posting to the above address or faxing to 020 7918 1028.  You may also fill in an on-line form directly at the Transport for London Lost Property Office by visiting this link.

If you have lost property on the London Underground, London Buses, Docklands Light Railway or Victoria Coach Station, visit the Home Page of the TFL Lost Property Office for detailed advice.
