This luxury B&B is within easy reach of Wimbledon town centre and wide ranging transport, leisure and shopping facilities. The Northern Line tube, Croydon tramlink and buses are less than 5 minutes walk away, yet ‘Number 42’ is located on a leafy and quiet residential road in Merton Park with its own gated driveway for upto 4 cars. A shuttle service to / from the Wimbledon Tennis Championships is available on request. Despite being so close to the centre of London (only 15 minutes from Wimbledon to Waterloo Station) and all its world famous attractions including West End Theatre Shows, ‘Number 42’ creates the perfect escape for guests wanting to relax and enjoy their stay.
The double fronted façade of ‘Number 42’ which includes the original 1930s stained glass windows, gives little indication of the large stunning family home which lies beyond. Features include the 160ft garden which backs onto Kendor Rose Gardens and the nearby John Innes Conservation Area, original air raid shelter (currently used as a wine cellar!) and ‘African Savannah Hut’. Guests are welcome to enjoy the garden which is incredibly private and tranquil – often all you can hear are the sounds of birds and the occasional bells from St Mary’s Church.
Bedrooms at ‘Number 42’ are all individually styled with high quality furnishings, and each has a generous en-suite bath or shower room. There is a choice of super king suite and double rooms, as well as a family suite with king sized bed, balcony overlooking the garden and separate study area / dressing room with single bed.
Thoughtful touches of luxury are all part of the ‘Number 42’ experience, including flat screen TV with freeview and built in DVD player, free wireless broadband (WiFi), hairdryer and a hot-drinks tray with welcome biscuits or cake in each bedroom.
Breakfast is served in the elegant guest dining room which looks up the garden and includes freshly baked pastries and delicious waffles! Evening meals are available if required.
Free local attractions include the 125 acre National Trust Park at Morden Hall with Garden Centre and Café (100m away), Deen City Farm for children (15 minutes walk through the park) and a further five minutes stroll brings visitors to the Merton Abbey Mills bustling weekend market with arts and craft shops and stalls, cafés, pub, regular live music and children’s activities.
Nothing is too much trouble for owners Sadie and Haydn and they look forward to welcoming you.
