AFC Wimbledon 

First friendly matches: 

Wednesday 10th July 2002 at 7:30pm was a historic occasion as AFC Wimbledon played their first ever game. Sutton United were the hosts in the first of four friendlies at Gander Green Lane.

Monday 12th August 2002 Vs Enfield Town at Cheshunt FC 7:45pm

AbbeyFest 2002

The beautiful riverside setting of the River Wandle at Merton Abbey Mills is a perfect setting for this yearly arts festival celebrating music, theatre & comedy.  Festival runs from 6th July to 26th August 2002.  See our "links" page for a link to AbbeyFest and other tourist related links.


Cannizaro Park Open Air Theatre Festival

Guide Dogs for the Blind, Dragon Boat Racing, Kingston Rowing Club, Saturday, August 31st 2002

This event is the ultimate in an exciting & fun day out, at the same time as being an important fundraising event for Guide Dogs. Over the last 15 years, Dragon Boat Racing has firmly established itself as a mass participation sport with colour, spectacle and excitement being the order of the day - and is one of the UK's fastest growing competitor sports.

Allan Ahlberg’s FRIENDLY MATCHES

13th June – 17th August

Featuring the poems and songs from the latest collection by Allan Ahlberg, all on the theme of football, Friendly Matches is a comedy for the whole family that is sure to score. For ages 6+


In the Adventure Theatre:

SATURDAY ADVENTURES

13th April – 29th June

A different show each week for the 3 - 5 age group from visiting companies including CTC, Krazy Katz, Pipsqueak Productions and tam tam theatre.


Vicky Ireland’s THE BROWNPAPER TIGER

2nd July – 17th August

A brand new play for the 3 – 5 age-group sees two friends, Ruby and Sita, embark on a very special adventure when they each receive parcels from their grandparents one day…

SATURDAY STORYTIMES

Storytelling and author visits in this new free event for younger children, held on the first Saturday of each month. Call the Box Office for details.
